What's New: Sleeker Tiles, Smarter Notes, and Improved Layouts ✈️
We’ve just rolled out a fresh batch of updates focused on making your kneeboard cleaner, easier to read, and more intuitive to use. From sharper weather categories to smarter note-taking behavior, here’s a breakdown of everything new in this release!
🌤️ Weather & ATIS Tile Upgrades
We’ve given the Weather/ATIS tile some serious love to make it more readable at a glance:
- Crisp Flight Category Badges: We’ve replaced the old image-based flight category badges (VFR, MVFR, IFR, LIFR) with clean, sharp HTML elements. They now look significantly better and scale perfectly on any screen size.
- New Compact View: If you use wide tiles, you’ll notice a brand new “Compact” layout for ATIS. It organizes the weather data much more efficiently so you get exactly what you need without clutter.
- Streamlined Options: To keep things simple, we’ve removed the redundant “Cloud Clearance” display mode from the Weather tile.
📝 Smarter Notes & Acronyms
We’re making the Notes tile simpler to configure:
- Acronyms in Blank Mode: You no longer need to switch to a dedicated “Acronym” mode! We’ve merged this functionality directly into the “Blank” mode. Now, your configured acronyms will automatically display in Blank mode, saving you an extra tap.
- Centered Compass: For those of you who expand the Notes tile to view the compass, we corrected a layout issue—the compass is now perfectly centered and looks great in expanded mode.
🗺️ Expanding Tiles & Navigation
- Expanded Mode Support: We’ve introduced a new “Expanded” mode capability across several tiles (Airport, ATIS, Notes, Radio). You’ll now see better support for this within the tile settings menu (the three dots), making it easier to control tiles that jump into an expanded view.
- Clearer Chart Links: Under the Airport tile’s chart links, we’ve renamed the “Airport” section to “Airport Docs” to make it painfully clear where to find your airport diagrams and procedures.
🖼️ Smoother Template Saving
Finally, a small but heavily requested quality-of-life fix! Have you ever saved an existing template and watched its thumbnail temporarily vanish into a generic default image while it processes? We’ve fixed that! The system now faithfully preserves your old thumbnail until the shiny new one is fully generated.
Clear skies and happy flying, from the development team!
